Communistagram plays with the echoes between social media culture and historical ideologies, imagining a platform where Instagram’s “work for content” ethos meets communism’s “work for contentment.” The shifting meaning of “content” exposes the pressures of creative labor in the digital age, where self-expression is shaped by unseen forces. Inviting reflection on the idealized nature of online creation, the project also draws parallels between algorithmic influence and propaganda. Perhaps the platforms that claim to champion freedom aren’t so different from the ideologies they reject.
